Our Camper King Review
We brought Reggie back in August 2020, the year of COVID-19, after visiting what felt like every VW conversion specialist in the West Midlands.
We saw some great converters who were doing amazing conversions, but for us and our budget, they just couldn’t offer what we wanted.
After starting to think all hope was lost, we found a company called Camper King and in one last ditch attempt to find our perfect van, we found Reggie.
Reggie at the time was a VW T5.1 T28 Transporter who had spent most of his time as the usual builder’s van.
He had been sourced through Camper King and was ready to start a new life, with the 4 of us by his side.
After going through all our options and budget with Jack, we quickly realised that we were able to not only afford what we wanted, but also a few added extras which were on our wish list too!
As Camper King had sourced Reggie from a VW dealer, and we had not seen him before, we wanted to make sure we were 100% happy before any work started.
Again, Camper King made sure that Reggie was available for us to view before any work had started and were happy, he was the van for us.
From this the build sheet was created, order was placed, all we had to do then was sit back and impatiently wait for it to be converted for us.
All of the staff at Camper King are fantastic right the way through the whole team, being helpful, friendly and really put you at ease as soon as you walk through the door.
The showroom is amazing with plenty of converted vans on display in various interior models they do, so you can actually sit in the style van your after and really get a feel as to what there like.
They have a dedicated area, the configuration lounge, where you choose your interior options from different colour units, worktops, flooring, seat colours and finishes, right down to the trim colour around the cabinets and of course a massive selection of some stunning looking alloy wheels.
You can be as crazy and whacky as you want to be, or classic and sophisticated with your choice of interior colours. We have seen some colour schemes where on paper you would think would be awful, but when you see it in front of you, fall in love with instantly!
We sat down with Jack on our first visit who went through who Camper King are, what they have to offer and what they can do for us. They are the UKs biggest bespoke VW conversion specialist and have many years’ experience in what they do.
We had a good vibe from them and based on this we knew it was Camper King who we wanted to use.
From our initial conversation to the day of collection it was around 10 weeks, in which time Reggie had been fully converted, serviced and had a few bodywork repairs done too.
As soon as we found out he was ready to collect, we had already half planned our first adventure, purchased an abundance of accessories and had our clothes packed ready to go virtually straight away!
All we had to do was pack him and hit the open road where our first adventure begins.

They keep there customers at the heart of everything with a dedicated Camper King Owners Facebook group which you are only invited to once you collect your vehicle, as well as being invited to Camper King only events and weekends away, with other owners.
If your set on a VW, don't hesitate, just do it!
